Associate Directors are expected to put in a minimum of 10 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
SUMMARY:
Save the Water™ is seeking a candidate for Associate Director of Human Resources, who works with all of our volunteers, across all of our groups and disciplines to support their operations. This includes overseeing all HR teams: Engagement & Development, Recruitment & Job Processing, and Shared Service Center.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the HR Director in all matters related to managing all the different functions within HR
- Oversee department of an average of 20-25 volunteers and interns.
- Interview Volunteer Candidates and provide training for new human resources volunteers.
- Provide ongoing coaching and assistance for active human resources volunteers
- Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; and maintaining records.
- Complete human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; and following up on work results.
- Maintain human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Communicate with HR on open positions, hiring and resignation processes, and other procedures as requested.
- Align the human resources group’s objectives and goals to STW™’s objectives and goals and chalk out a quarterly, bi-annual, and annual strategy roadmap for the group.
- Have a development plan for your direct reportees and encourage a culture of learning and engagement.
- Manage and keep HR documentation and policies updated.
- Keep the personnel files under proper maintenance by creating a checklist and auditing the results.
- Work on newer initiatives as assigned by the HR Director and help in execution.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD or Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human resources, psychology, or Organization development or non-profit and/or business administration or equivalent; master’s preferred.
- Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience involving supervision, volunteer and staff development and training, program development, and administration to include at least 3 years in management/leadership positions.
- Working knowledge of Hiring, Human Resources Management, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Communication Processes, Supports Diversity, Classifying Employees, Employment Law, Laws Against Sexual Harassment, Organization.
- Advanced organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, self-direction, and ability to manage priorities effectively, including high levels of correspondence.
- Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous, and professional manner when dealing with the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in volunteer engagement and development and implementing educational internship programs.
- Ability to design training programs and provide training to various size groups. Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and populations as well as a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Ability to monitor, analyze, consult, and report on volunteer programs and services.
