Technology Lab Support and Trainer

Our technology lab in central Montclair, NJ is in need of volunteers to help us support our mission. Laptop Upcycle supports students in northern NJ with free laptops for those in need. We accept donations of lightly used laptops, securely wipe the data from them, and prepare them for new owners in our lab. Local students volunteer to support this process and are managed/trained by adult volunteers. The student volunteers learn technology skills, technology recycle/reuse procedures, and have fun with their friends as they learn.

We are in need of multiple adult volunteers to help manage the lab activities and support the volunteers. Our needs are varied as is your experience, so we hope to build a team to expand our hours and offerings locally.

• Scheduling, promotion, and registration of working sessions/meetup in our Montclair lab.
• Experience working with students (High School) in a lab environment
• Supporting our technology education mission by developing and presenting content in the lab that volunteers may then experience with hands-on activites
• Using social media, traditional media, and local networking to build awareness and grow volunteer interest in our mission.
• Experience with computer hardware and its repair
• Experience in Personal Development to inspire and empower students in building technical and educational confidence.
• Technical experience and background to understand and support the systems and tools used in the lab. Ability to propose new solutions to improve our lab procedures.
• Work with partners, educators, and other nonprofits to support our shared goal of supporting students.
