In Life’s Final Days, Hearing Your Native Language Feels Like Coming Home
As people age or near the end of life, they often revert to their first language—the words of their childhood, family traditions, and earliest memories. For many hospice patients who don't speak English fluently, finding someone who understands their native tongue brings a deep, irreplaceable sense of comfort and safety.
At ANX Hospice, we are seeking compassionate, multi-lingual volunteers to spend 1 to 2 hours a week bringing companionship and cultural connection to hospice patients in our community.
Languages Currently in Need:
All Languages Welcome!
What You Will Do:
- Chat & Reminisce: Engage in simple conversations, read stories, or share music in the patient's native language.
- Provide Emotional Comfort: Help non-English speaking seniors feel heard, valued, and understood without the stress of a language barrier.
- Support Families: Bring peace of mind to family members, knowing their loved one has a visitor who speaks their heart language.
No Medical Background Needed — just fluent conversational skills and a compassionate heart.
Clearances (Provided Free of Charge): Completion of a background check & reference checks, health screening & testing, and our hospice volunteer orientation & training.
