Senior Grant Strategy & Funding Architect (Volunteer) 98 Octane – Heroes Health Impact Initiative Corporation | Remote | United States

98 Octane is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on improving the long-term health and resilience of Military Veterans and First Responders. We provide free health education, metabolic wellness training, and community-based programming designed to help those who serve live longer, stronger lives.

We have recently formalized our Board of Directors, governance policies, and compliance infrastructure. We are now ready to build a strategic funding engine that will allow us to scale responsibly and sustainably.

We are seeking a mid to senior-level volunteer to help architect that engine.

    The Opportunity

This is not a data-entry role.

We are looking for an experienced grant strategist, foundation professional, development consultant, or senior nonprofit fundraiser who can help us design and build a structured funding pipeline, from community raffles and corporate sponsorships to major foundation and federal grants.

You will work directly with leadership to identify realistic funding targets for an early-stage nonprofit and help position 98 Octane for long-term growth.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop a clear funding strategy appropriate for a new nonprofit with limited operating capital
    • Identify aligned foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities
    • Create and maintain a strategic grant pipeline with timelines and probability estimates
    • Advise on positioning, messaging, and grant readiness
    • Identify early-stage funding pathways (community grants, corporate giving, veteran-focused funds)
    • Provide guidance on letters of inquiry, grant narratives, and supporting documentation
    • Recommend systems or tools for tracking grants and reporting
    • Help leadership understand what to pursue now vs. later

    Optional (if interested):

    • Assist with drafting or reviewing proposals
    • Mentor junior volunteers supporting research

    Who This Is For

    We are seeking someone who:

    • Has meaningful experience in grant writing, foundation work, nonprofit development, or fundraising strategy
    • Understands how early-stage nonprofits can build credibility with funders
    • Can think strategically, not just tactically
    • Is comfortable advising executive leadership
    • Cares deeply about Military Veterans and First Responders

Retired grant professionals, development directors, foundation officers, and consultants looking to give back are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Time Commitment

    Flexible and remote.

Estimated 3–6 hours per week initially.

We value quality of guidance over volume of hours.

    Impact

98 Octane is early in its growth phase. The right funding strategy now will directly shape our ability to:

    • Expand free health education programs
    • Distribute wellness resources to underserved Veterans and First Responders
    • Build measurable long-term health impact

Your expertise won’t just help us find grants. It will help build the financial backbone of an organization dedicated to those who serve.
