Web designer

AfriGenetry Link is seeking a creative and reliable Wix Web Designer to help rebuild, improve, and manage our organizational website. This role is specifically for someone with hands-on experience designing and managing websites using Wix.

About the Role

The Wix Web Designer will work with the AGL team to strengthen our website so that it better communicates our mission, programs, events, Centers, partnerships, resources, and growing global work.

Key Responsibilities

• Rebuild and redesign sections of the AGL website using Wix.
• Improve the overall website structure, navigation, layout, and user experience.
• Create and update pages for programs, events, campaigns, resources, partnerships, and organizational initiatives.
• Ensure the website is professional, visually consistent, and aligned with AGL branding.
• Optimize pages for both desktop and mobile.
• Upload and organize written content, images, videos, forms, buttons, and other website materials.
• Create landing pages and event pages when needed.
• Maintain and regularly update existing website content.
• Troubleshoot basic Wix website issues.
• Work with the Communications & Marketing team to ensure website content aligns with current campaigns and messaging.
• Support basic Wix SEO settings and website organization.
• Recommend improvements as the organization and its digital needs grow.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has practical experience building websites specifically with Wix.
• Understands Wix Editor and/or Wix Studio.
• Has a good eye for clean, modern, professional web design.
• Understands responsive/mobile-friendly design.
• Can work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
• Pays close attention to details, spelling, formatting, links, and brand consistency.
• Is comfortable making ongoing website updates rather than only completing a one-time redesign.
• Experience with nonprofit, health, science, education, community, or cultural organizations is a plus.

Commitment & Stipend

This is a volunteer position with a $40 stipend.
