Volunteer Editor - Outdoor Safety and Prevention Materials

We are looking for a volunteer editor to review and polish written materials such as short articles, reports, and stories about outdoor safety. You do not need to be a professional copyeditor, but you should have a good eye for clarity, flow, and tone. An interest in hiking, search and rescue, or outdoor recreation is a plus.

Key responsibilities

• Edit drafts of about 1,500 to 2,000 words for grammar, readability, and consistency
• Provide light feedback on structure and transitions
• Ensure language is clear and accessible to new hikers and general readers
• Return edits within a few days when possible

Who you are

• Strong command of written English
• Comfortable using Google Docs or Word track-changes
• Reliable and detail oriented
• Interested in outdoor topics or public safety education

Commitment

• Remote role
• Flexible schedule, about 2 to 4 hours per project
• All work can be done from home
