Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Long Beach & Orange County (JFCS) is seeking compassionate volunteers to join our Welcome Team and support refugees as they adjust to life in the United States. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact in your community by helping families feel safe, supported, and empowered.
What You’ll Do:
Welcome Team Volunteers work in small groups (3–5 people) to assist refugee families with essential tasks, such as:

Complete a brief check-in call with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your interests and availability.
Provide two references (name, relationship, contact info).
Attend an online or in person Info Session to learn more about JFCS and the Welcome Team role.
Sign volunteer waivers and complete the Volunteer Application through the JFCS system.
Complete required trainings (trauma-informed care)
Pass a quick online background check (link will be provided after Info Session).
Join or form a Support Team of 3–5 volunteers to collaborate on family support.
Begin volunteering! We’ll match you with a refugee family and provide ongoing guidance.
