At Providence Hospice, our volunteers are the steady, kind presence patients and families lean on. No special skills required — just your heart, your time, and your willingness to show up.
💛 What You’ll Do
- Sit and visit with patients
- Listen to stories, share conversation
- Offer comfort and companionship
- Support families during a meaningful time
Even just one hour a week can make a world of difference.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will meet with you, answer questions, and help you take the next step.
2️⃣ Complete Your Application
- Fill out a volunteer application (in person)
- Bring:
- Driver’s License
- Auto Insurance with your name on the policy (if you’ll be driving)
- 2 references (personal or professional)
- Social Security Card
3️⃣ Screening Requirements (State of Kansas)
- Background check
- Drug test
- 2-step TB test (provided)

4️⃣ Attend Volunteer Training
- Simple, supportive, and welcoming
- You’ll learn what to expect and feel confident before your first visit
5️⃣ Get Matched & Start Visiting
- Choose a schedule that works for you
- We match you with patients near your area
- Most volunteers visit about 1 hour per week
