Director of NGO Programs

Through its fiscal sponsorship model, HPG provides operational infrastructure, compliance oversight, capacity building, donor stewardship, and strategic programmatic support across multiple sectors and regions.

Position Summary

The Director of NGO Programs will lead the strategy, development, implementation, and evaluation of Humanity Pathways Global’s global program portfolio. This includes oversight of community development initiatives, fiscally sponsored programs, and multi-region partnerships. The Director will ensure programmatic alignment with HPG’s mission, establish systems that promote operational excellence, strengthen local and international partnerships, and support the long-term sustainability of community-led initiatives.

The position reports to the Chief Program Officer and collaborates closely with Directors across Fundraising, Donor Relations, Grant Management, Planned Giving, and Public Relations. The role requires a leader with strong cross-cultural fluency, experience guiding community-rooted programs, and the ability to manage distributed teams across diverse geographies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for HPG’s global program portfolio, including community development initiatives and fiscally sponsored projects.
• Guide the development of program frameworks, implementation strategies, impact goals, and sustainability plans.
• Support emerging and community-led organizations with technical assistance, capacity building, and operational guidance.
• Establish and maintain program management systems, including monitoring, evaluation, reporting, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Strengthen relationships with community partners, NGOs, government agencies, funders, and local stakeholders across global regions.
• Oversee program budgets, grant requirements, donor reporting, and compliance protocols in collaboration with Finance and Grants teams.
• Advise leadership on program risks, opportunities, trends, and strategic priorities to inform organizational decision-making.
• Supervise Program Managers, Coordinators, Volunteers, and regional partners across multiple locations.
• Support cross-organizational initiatives, including resource development, communications, and institution-wide planning.
• Represent HPG at external forums, coalitions, conferences, and partnership engagements with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
• Promote a culture of equity, community ownership, learning, and continuous improvement across all programs.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience leading nonprofit, NGO, community development, or global social impact programs.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or managing fiscally sponsored organizations, multi-partner networks, or decentralized community initiatives.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate multi-site programs grounded in equity and community co-creation.
• Strong knowledge of grant compliance, nonprofit regulations, reporting requirements, and program budget management.
• Supervisory experience managing distributed, multicultural teams.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to relate to diverse communities and stakeholders.
• High degree of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and cultural fluency.

Preferred

• Master’s degree in International Development, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• Experience with grassroots partnerships and community programs in the Global South.
• Familiarity with capacity-building frameworks, cooperative development, or community wealth-building models.
• Proficiency in an additional language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic, Swahili).

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, remote-based position. The role requires flexibility to collaborate across global time zones and may include occasional travel. The successful candidate must have reliable internet access and maintain a work environment that supports confidentiality, productivity, and effective communication.
