Volunteer Drivers Needed for Older Adults

About Us:

AHA is a member-driven nonprofit village that builds and sustains a 55+ community to successfully navigate aging. Together, we share activities, programs and services, including access to needed assistance.

Our volunteers play a critical role in supporting our members and making sure their needs are met. Volunteers also form strong friendships with members, offering an important opportunity to socialize.

We are actively seeking volunteer drivers to transport our members to appointments and social engagements in and around Alexandria, VA. You’ll have the chance to meet some great folks. Come on board!

Responsibilities

Drive AHA members in your vehicle to a variety of destinations, including:

-Medical appointments

-Grocery shopping

-Social engagements, especially AHA events

-Etc.

Socialize with AHA members throughout the drive.

-Listen attentively

-Be polite and friendly

Special circumstances:

-On rare occasions an AHA member will have an aide join them on the ride; you will be notified if this is the case.

-In a few instances, an AHA member will have a walker, cane, wheelchair, or other device to support mobility needs. You would know this in advance and will be trained on how to safely transport these devices.

Qualifications

-Excellent driving record

-Strong interest in volunteering and community service

-Interest in conversing with and supporting older adults

-Prompt

-Reliable
