Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Club 21 Discovery Member!

Do you enjoy building friendships with diverse new people? Do you need an excuse to make time in your busy schedule for some badly needed fun? Are you interested in getting to know more about what your community has to offer? Are you hoping to make a difference in someone’s life? If your answer is yes, so is ours!

• Club 21, a program through Open Sky Community Services, is looking for compassionate people to become Discovery Members-

members of Central MA who want to build meaningful, one-to-one friendships with individuals supported by Open Sky. These individuals may have developmental disabilities, or mental health or other complex social challenges and are looking forconnection, inclusion, and community.

What is a Discovery Member?

Discovery Members are not counselors or helpers. They are members of the community who are open to meeting new people they might not otherwise meet and engaging in new experiences/activities one-to-one with their Club partner, in small groups, and with the whole Club. No experience necessary-just kindness, curiosity, and commitment to inclusion.

What You’ll Do:

• Meet with your partner twice a month (coffee, a walk, a shared hobby, etc.)
• Attend occasional group events held by other members or by Club 21 staff
• Receive guidance, resources, and check-ins from Club 21 staff
• Help create a more inclusive community

Time Commitment:

• 2-4 hours/month
• Flexible scheduling, based on the availability of you and your Club partner

Location:

• Club 21 serves individuals in communities across Central Massachusetts. Discovery Members are matched with individuals served by Open Sky residingin their local community
