The AHope Day Center is a low barrier service for humans experiencing homelessness in Asheville NC that is open to clients from 8am to 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 8am to 11:30pm on Wednesdays.
We are in need of mailroom volunteers that can commit to a weekly schedule. Shifts can be from 8am to 1pm or shifts can be shorter such as 8am to 12pm or 11am to 1pm.
Duties:
- Search for mail for each client as they sign up to have their mail checked
- Check for packages and voicemails for each client
- Provide flyers with resources as requested
- Hand out things like needles/thread, batteries, and other odds and ends as requested
- Help to sort and stamp mail as it arrives
- Help to audit files for old mail that has not been picked up and stamp to send back to post office

¿Cómo llegar?
You can park in the Firestone parking lot across from the building. If you are coming in the morning, there may be a line of clients on the porch. You can either ask them politely to allow you through or you can come to the back door to have staff let you in. If you have any issues you can call the Assistant Director of Homeless Services. Her phone number will be provided after you apply.
