Position Overview

Pawsitive Possibilities Rescue (PPRI), a Long Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization, is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and compassionate In-Person Event Volunteers to help make our adoption events, fundraisers, and community outreach activities successful.

Our events are an important part of our mission. They help rescued animals find loving homes, raise essential funds, educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and introduce new supporters to our organization.

Whether you're an experienced volunteer or simply someone who loves animals and wants to make a difference, we'd love to have you join our team!

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with setting up and breaking down event spaces, including tables, tents, signage, supplies, and displays.
• Welcome attendees and provide general information about PPRI, our mission, and our programs.
• Help visitors learn about adoptable animals and guide interested adopters through our application process.
• Support fundraising activities, donation collection, merchandise sales, and community engagement.
• Assist with supervising and handling adoptable dogs when authorized and appropriately trained.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for animals, volunteers, and attendees.
• Distribute informational materials and promote upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
• Work alongside other volunteers and event coordinators to ensure activities run smoothly.
• Represent PPRI professionally and positively within the community.

Qualifications

• A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare.
• Friendly, approachable attitude and willingness to engage with the public.
• Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow organizational policies, safety procedures, and event coordinator instructions.
• Comfortable working in busy environments with people and animals.
• Ability to perform light physical activities, such as standing, walking, and assisting with event setup.
• Previous volunteer or animal handling experience is welcome but not required.

Time Commitment

PPRI hosts adoption events, fundraising activities, and community outreach programs throughout Long Island.

Most events take place on weekends, with occasional weekday or evening opportunities.

Volunteers can select events based on their availability. While we appreciate regular participation, there is no requirement to volunteer every weekend.
