If you want to learn how memes can get kids and youth excited about reading, writing, and their own potential, and enjoy supporting kids and youth during scavenger hunts, and other fun and silly activities, then join our team of volunteers!
We integrate reading and writing into creative activities motivated by the kids' and youths’ interests that, along with your support, boost self-confidence and engagement with literacy.
Volunteer Position Description:
We are seeking committed volunteer literacy mentors, from all backgrounds, who are adaptable, committed, compassionate, consistent, flexible, friendly, fun, genuine, kind, love to learn, open-minded, relaxed, team player, trustworthy, and understanding, and are passionate about kids’ and youths’ literacy and not afraid to be wacky!
We strongly encourage people to volunteer with the Writers’ Exchange who shared lived experience with the kids and youth we serve, especially those who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, a Person of Colour, Muslim, and/or from English Language Learner newcomer families. If you are a member of any of these communities and would like more information about becoming involved, or face barriers to volunteering, please contact us at info@vancouverwe.com.
