    Descripción

    A Hospice Bereavement Volunteer

    VITAS Bereavement Volunteers contact family and loved ones following the death of a VITAS patient. Volunteers offer support and compassion. Volunteers may make phone calls, do in-person visits, help organize or co-facilitate support groups, all with the support and guidance of the VITAS Bereavement Services Manager, Chaplains and other hospice team members. Great for MFT Interns as well.

    All volunteers are required to attend a 1 hr Zoom AND a comprehensive in-person orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. TB screening and background check are also required and are provided by VITAS. Zoom orientation held 3x per month and in-person every other month.

    Our next in-person orientation is:

    Saturday, January 11th from 8:30 am - 4 pm

    Orientation is held at our office located at:

    9655 Granite Ridge Dr. Ste. 300

    San Diego, CA 92123

    Continental breakfast and lunch provided.

    There is also an option to complete orientation a via Zoom and self-study combination.

    In addition to volunteer orientation, a Bereavement Volunteer Training is also required.
