Mentor for the Blue Sky Moments Equine Mentorship Program

Blue Sky Acres is a Christ-centered nonprofit that ministers to children (10+), teens, and families impacted by trauma or disability by providing a safe place to experience the hope and healing of Jesus Christ.

The Blue Sky Moments program is a one-on-one mentoring opportunity where a trained volunteer mentor uses horses and other activities tailored to the participant's needs to help build resiliency skills such as trust, communication, boundaries, and leadership.

Participants come for 1 hour per week for 10-week semesters in the Fall and Spring

Horse interaction is groundwork only (no riding)

Goal of each session: To model the love of Christ and build a consistent relationship with the participant so they understand they are not alone and matter to us and to Jesus.

Qualifications include:

21+ years of age, sign the BSA Statement of Faith, complete a volunteer application and interview, complete horsemanship and trauma-informed training, complete a background check and Mandated Reporter training, commitment of at least 10 weeks per semester (3 hrs weekly minimum during semesters plus additional training and horse interactions required in the off-season)
