Hospice Companionship Volunteers - Greater Ann Arbor, Jackson, Brighton, Fenton, Howell

Quality of care is one of the cornerstones of our mission - a mission that could not be accomplished without the many 'helping hands' of our volunteers. We are seeking volunteers throughout the greater Ann Arbor area, including Jackson, Brighton, Fenton & Howell and the surrounding area, to visit hospice patients throughout the community. Visits take place in patients' own homes, as well as nursing homes, assisted living, memory care and group homes. Volunteers are asked to provide companionship to our patients, which can include reading to them, looking through magazines or cookbooks, watching movies or sports, playing music, or simply chatting and holding a hand. Our volunteers do not provide any hands-on physical care to our patients. Our hospice volunteers have shared that they find their work to be personally gratifying and meaningful, and we hope that you will share in this experience.

We ask that our volunteers make at least a one year commitment to our organization. Volunteers will be provided with ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout their service with us, and will be invited to ongoing education opportunities, and appreciation events. Our volunteers must complete an online application, interview, background checks, orientation, fingerprinting, and TB testing.
