Volunteer Social Media & Storytelling Coordinator for Global Mutual Aid Collective

Grove Communications Steward — Social Media Volunteer

Remote · Flexible schedule · Approximately 5–10 hours per week · Unpaid volunteer role

    About Olivekind

Olivekind is an independent, founder-led mutual aid initiative connecting people with families facing displacement, conflict, and hardship.

Each family has a “Tree” in our online Grove: a personalized page featuring their story, individual needs, and links to their existing fundraisers. Pages are developed with families’ input and approval, with dignity, consent, and transparency at the center.

    Explore our work at https://olivekind.co.

    About the role

We’re looking for a thoughtful, community-minded volunteer to help tend Olivekind’s Instagram and Threads accounts. Our founder has begun scheduling posts and building a content calendar; we’d love someone to help maintain that rhythm, engage with our community, and bring the families’ stories to more people.

This is a collaborative role with room for your ideas—not an expectation that you single-handedly grow an account or solve a fundraising challenge.

    What you’ll help with

    • Adapt family-approved stories and updates into captions, posts, and Stories using existing photos, materials, and templates.
    • Help organize and schedule content so families receive consistent visibility.
    • Engage thoughtfully with comments, relevant accounts, and potential collaborators.
    • Identify opportunities for community connections, reposts, and shared campaigns.
    • Track simple engagement and link-click trends to help us learn what resonates.
    • Flag sensitive questions or messages for the founder rather than handling them alone.

Who would be a good fit

    • Someone comfortable with Instagram and Threads who enjoys community engagement and clear, human writing.
    • Someone committed to Palestinian dignity, human rights, and respectful, family-led storytelling.
    • Someone who understands that consent and privacy matter more than compelling content.
    • Someone dependable who communicates openly about availability and capacity.
    • Someone with social media, communications, or mutual aid experience—or relevant skills developed through personal projects.

Canva and scheduling-tool familiarity are helpful, but not required. Arabic language skills are welcome, but not expected. A degree or professional nonprofit background is not required.

    Support and boundaries

You’ll work directly with Olivekind’s founder, with access to existing content, brand guidance, and an agreed approval process.

You will not be responsible for handling donations, accessing families’ private records, providing crisis support, or being available around the clock. Some stories involve distressing experiences; you can communicate your boundaries and decline particular content.

    Time commitment

Approximately 5–10 hours per week, scheduled flexibly around your availability. We’ll agree on a manageable workload together and revisit it as needed.

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. We respect that volunteering must fit around paid work, caregiving, and your own well-being. There are no follower-growth or fundraising quotas, and you will not be asked to donate or cover expenses.

    How to express interest

Please send a short introduction sharing why Olivekind’s work interests you, your approximate availability, and any relevant experience. You’re welcome to include examples of writing, social posts, or community projects, but a formal portfolio is not required.

We’re looking for someone who cares about the people behind the posts. 🌿
