Are you a high school student (or any age!) interested in medicine, public health, nursing, physical therapy, or healthcare advocacy? Or are you someone who is passionate about making a difference, whether it's in healthcare or community service? The Scolio Dance Initiative, a program of Joy Card Project Nonprofit, is looking for passionate student volunteers to become Scoliosis Health Advocates in their communities.
As a volunteer, you will help raise awareness about scoliosis, promote early detection, and provide emotional support to teens living with scoliosis—especially dancers and student-athletes who may be at higher risk.

Why This Is Especially Important for Dancers
Research suggests that dancers may have a higher rate of scoliosis than the general population. Because dancers are often very flexible and strong, early signs of scoliosis can sometimes be less noticeable. That is why scoliosis awareness in dance studios and performing arts schools is particularly important.
Research suggests that up to 20-30% of dancers may be diagnosed with scoliosis, compared to 2-3% of the general population in the U.S.
