Volunteer Opportunity: Clothing Distribution Committee
Organization: God’s Messenger of Victorious People (GMOVP) Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid/In-person) Time Commitment: 6-10 hours/week (flexible based on events and inventory needs) Reports to: Director of Community Impact & Strategic Initiatives
Position Summary
The Clothing Distribution Committee Lead plays a vital role in GMOVP’s mission to restore dignity and hope to the unsheltered. This volunteer will oversee the coordination, organization, and distribution of clothing donations, ensuring that individuals receive clean, seasonally appropriate, and respectful attire that supports their journey from homelessness to wholeness.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Organize and maintain clothing donations; sort by size, type, and season
- Distribution Oversight: Lead clothing distribution events and ensure respectful, efficient service
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit and guide volunteers to assist with sorting, setup, and distribution
- Community Engagement: Build relationships with donors, local businesses, and organizations to secure clothing donations
- Logistics Planning: Coordinate transportation, storage, and setup for distribution events
- Reporting: Track inventory levels and distribution metrics; report impact to leadership
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Experience in volunteer coordination or event planning (preferred but not required)
- Compassionate and respectful approach to serving vulnerable populations
- Ability to lift and move boxes of clothing (with assistance if needed)
- Passion for GMOVP’s mission and values
