Like people? Like walking? Live in King County? If any (or all) of these are true, you might love this.

Feel more connected to where you live — one walk at a time.

That’s the whole idea. Acquaint Walks builds local connection through a simple walking practice: neighbors meeting on foot, at a nearby park, having real conversations while they walk. It’s a way to volunteer by walking — especially when you were already planning to. No agenda, no fundraising, nobody to convince of anything. You show up, pair off with a neighbor, and walk. The conversation is the contribution.

There are no hosts and no facilitators — nobody runs the walk. Everyone contributes. And rather than a few big events, Acquaint Walks are many small walks, scheduled by members of the community at times and places convenient for them.

We’ve just launched in King County and the app is live — so right now, the roles that matter most are the ones that give the community something to count on and something to grow from.

How to help — Anchors and Ambassadors especially

Since we’re just getting started, these two make the biggest difference:

    • Anchor — walk the same place and time each week, so neighbors always have a walk they can count on. You’re not leading anything; just being a reliable presence. A handful of Anchors is what turns an empty calendar into a real routine.
    • Ambassador — invite friends, family, coworkers, your faith group, or a local organization out to walk with us. Getting the word out is the single biggest thing standing between us and walks in every neighborhood.
    • Walk — schedule a walk you’d take anyway and leave it open for neighbors, or join one that’s already on the calendar. Whenever you can.
    • Help us improve the app — tell us what’s working and what isn’t as we grow.

There are no scripts, no facilitation duties, and no special skills required. The only real job is showing up.

    Time Commitment

Flexible — you set your own schedule. We suggest 1–2 hours a week over the next three months as we grow. More is great. Less is okay too. Walkers must be 18 or older.

    Where this is going

Eventually: you head out for your usual walk and a neighbor is already out there. Walks common enough that you don’t plan them — you just join one. A neighborhood where walking with someone is a normal Tuesday.

Right now: a few walks a week, scheduled a few days out, at a park. That’s not the destination; it’s how you get there from here. Anchors give those walks a heartbeat; Ambassadors bring the people. You’d be one of the people getting us there.

Acquaint already powers 30,000+ hours of human connection across 110+ countries through virtual peer-to-peer conversations. Acquaint Walks brings that same energy to your neighborhood — and King County is where it starts.
