Summary of Position
Become an advocate for native plants by keeping invasive weeds at bay! Be a representative of Jeffco Parks & Open Space (JCPOS) by mapping the locations of invasive weeds and removing plants to prevent further seed spread.
Duties
Map invasive weeds within Jeffco parks utilizing GIS mapping systems.
Remove seed heads to prevent the spread of invasive species.
Assist volunteer groups in weed removal projects
Requirements
Be able to hike or ride various trails
Complete required training and mentoring
Utilize a smart phone or tablet (tablets are available for checkout)
Volunteers must abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook.

- Attend New Volunteer Orientation
- All new volunteers are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation at JCPOS Headquarters to become familiar with the entire JCPOS system prior to specific program training. You must pre-register for orientation on Offero. Registration links are provided upon receipt of your application.
- Attend Program Specific Training
- Training will be arranged by the program coordinators. Training will be on April 2, 2026.
