Every successful adoption starts with a great matchmaker! Happy Cats Haven is looking for warm, people-oriented volunteers to become Adoption Counselors. Use your intuition, communication skills, and love of cats to create life-changing connections while supporting our no-kill mission and developing valuable interpersonal expertise!

About the Role:

As an Adoption Counselor volunteer, you'll be the heart of our adoption process, helping match cats with their perfect forever families. You'll create meaningful connections between visitors and our adoptable cats, ensuring each placement is a successful, lifelong match that supports our mission of improving the lives of cats and the people who love them.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and engage with potential adopters in a warm, welcoming manner
• Learn about visitors' lifestyles, preferences, and home environments to recommend compatible cats
• Introduce potential adopters to cats that match their needs and personality
• Share detailed information about each cat's personality, history, medical needs, and behavior
• Guide adopters through the application and adoption process (we can train you!)
• Process adoption paperwork and adoption fees (we can train you!)
• Provide post-adoption support and answer questions about cat care
• Maintain knowledge of all adoptable cats and their individual needs
• Create a supportive, educational environment that encourages responsible pet ownership
• Represent Happy Cats Haven's mission and values to the community

Preferred Skills (bonus but not necessary):

• Previous experience with cats or animal care
• Customer service or counseling experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Patience and empathy when working with diverse families
• Knowledge of cat behavior and care
