    Descripción

    **Purpose of the Role**

    The Office and Human Resource Manager provides leadership and oversight of the Trust’s internal operations, human resource systems, and administrative coordination. The position ensures that all office functions reflect the values of Tikanga Māori (customs, ethics, and respect) and Kaupapa Māori (principled and collective action), while maintaining professional standards consistent with New Zealand employment and charitable governance laws.

    **Key Responsibilities**

    Develop, implement, and maintain human resource policies and procedures in line with Tikanga Māori and New Zealand law.

    Lead recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of staff and volunteers.

    Oversee day-to-day office management, including scheduling, budgeting, and communication systems.

    Maintain all staff and volunteer records, ensuring privacy and confidentiality under the New Zealand Privacy Act.

    Administer payroll, timesheets, and leave records for staff and contractors.

    Coordinate training, health and safety compliance, and professional development programmes.

    Foster a culturally safe workplace grounded in manaakitanga (care), kotahitanga (unity), and pono (integrity).

    Prepare reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees as required.

    **Qualifications and Experience**

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Management.

    Minimum five (5) years’ experience in HR or office management within a not-for-profit, corporate, or government setting.

    Comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand Employment Relations Act and Health and Safety at Work Act.

    Demonstrated understanding of Tikanga Māori and Kaupapa Māori principles, with an inclusive approach to all nationalities.

    Strong communication and organisational skills with attention to detail.

    Proficiency with digital HR systems, remote collaboration tools, and document management software.

    **Cultural Understanding**

    The Office and Human Resource Manager must embody Tikanga Māori (customs and ethics) and Kaupapa Māori (collective principles), fostering a culturally safe and inclusive workplace. Understanding of Te Ao Māori (the Māori world view) and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds are essential.

    **Reporting and Accountability**

    This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees. The Office and Human Resource Manager is responsible for ensuring operational compliance, staff wellbeing, and internal coordination across all Trust departments.
