Volunteering with Compeer, is being a team person in the life of one in the mental health recovery process. Developing that friendship through simple means such as going out for coffee and a chat or a walk through a local park brings hope into the world of mental challenges. Simply by being a friend assists with increasing ones outlook on life who is struggling. The stigma that comes with mental illness becomes less powerful. Compeer Butler County serves the adult 18+ population including seniors and veterans
Through meaningful connections with a Compeer friend, participants have experienced healing, with benefits such as reduced self-isolation and the opportunity to look forward to regular interactions.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of this program. Our volunteers are carefully screened through interviews, reference checks, three agency clearances, and specialized training to ensure they are well-suited for the role and can provide support in a safe and respectful manner. At this time, we are looking for additional volunteers from our community. Men and women volunteers, aged 18 and older, are all welcome.
