Inspire the Next Generation of Scientists: STEM Education Volunteer

Volunteer in the Lab with Students 2 Science

    Locations:

    • Newark Technology Center – Newark, NJ
    • Apollo Technology Center – Whippany, NJ

    About Students 2 Science (S2S)

At Students 2 Science, we believe every student deserves the chance to see themselves as a scientist.

We’re a nonprofit organization that brings science to life through hands-on lab experiences, connecting students from elementary through high school with real STEM professionals who inspire curiosity and confidence.

    About the Opportunity

Join us in sparking a love of science and discovery!

We’re looking for enthusiastic, dependable volunteers to help guide students through real-world lab experiments as part of our Improving Student Affinity and Aptitude for Careers in STEM (ISAAC) program.

No teaching experience is needed—just your curiosity, patience, and passion for helping young minds explore the possibilities of STEM.

    What You’ll Do

    • Mentor students in grades 3–12 as they explore experiments in chemistry, physics, biology, technology, and engineering.
    • Encourage teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence in the lab.
    • Help with light setup, cleanup, and restocking materials to keep our labs running smoothly.
    • Collaborate with S2S staff and fellow volunteers to create a safe, welcoming learning space.

    When You Can Help

    • Shifts: 8:15 or 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday–Friday (based on school visits)
    • Commitment: Flexible! Volunteer as often as your schedule allows.

    Who We’re Looking For

    • Adults (18+) who enjoy working with students and value hands-on learning.
    • Volunteers willing to complete a background check (facilitated by S2S).
    • Anyone with a love for science, mentorship, or giving back to their community.

    Why You’ll Love Volunteering

    • Make an impact: Help students see that they can be scientists, engineers, and innovators.
    • Build connections: Join a passionate community of STEM professionals, educators, and volunteers.
    • Gain experience: Spend time in a real, professional laboratory environment.
    • Feel inspired: Leave each day knowing you’ve made a real difference.
