A Signing, Hearing, Volunteer is Needed for Local Resident with Dual Sensory Loss to assist with grocery shopping, community outings and other activities found mutually agreeable. Though legally blind and partially deaf, this client maintains the ability to both see and hear but not enough to fully engage without some support. She travels with a guide dog and is well versed in transportation from Connecticut to New York where lifestyle attractions abound. There may be a small stipend available for the right volunteer.
Requirements to be a great volunteer include:
desire to help others; pleasant demeanor; good reading/speaking voice; reading skills; organizational or planning abilities; good driving record; clear criminal history; two references; access to a car with proof of insurance; a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
