    OPPORTUNITY TO OFFER TUTORING/ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO YOUTH

    Seeking tutors interested in being available to support high school students in a small community org in Springfield, MA.

    FIRST GENERATION

    First Generation is a youth leadership, arts and social justice program in Springfield, Massachusetts that provides a platform for young people to have a public voice in their community, and beyond. First Gen brings together youth ages 15 and up for self-reflection, dialogue, and artistic training. Forming an artistic ensemble, the group creates multi-lingual performances based on their life experiences with a focus on social justice.

    First Generation members may be the first in their family to grow up in the United States, the first to speak English, to graduate high school, go to college, be openly LGBTQ+, be incarcerated, be drug free, be a feminist, break a silence, or many other firsts. Participants are multi-lingual and include youth who are court-involved.

    INTERESTS

    • Teaching, academic mentoring, youth development
    • 10th-12th grade - all subjects (especially need 10th grade Math and Science, 12th grade statistics)
    • 10th grade English and Social Studies

    SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS

    • Be passionate about young adults, social justice, education, and creating space for youth voices.
    • Be patient, reliable, flexible, open-minded, good communication skills, good follow through.
    • Multi-lingual a plus (but not required)
    • References and CORI

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

    • Offer academic support/tutoring
    • Encourage a commitment to schoolwork
    SCHEDULE:

    Flexible- After school, evenings, weekends

    Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays would be after 6:30 PM.

    Wednesdays/Fridays /Weekends more flexible
