Support your Somerville Cambridge neighbors with our monthly grocery delivery program.
Our Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) takes place on the 1st Tuesday of each month, providing low-income adults aged 60 and over with (mainly shelf stable) groceries. We partner with the Greater Boston Food Bank, which delivers packed groceries to our office at 61 Medford St. in Somerville. The grocery boxes typically contain canned goods, rice, beans, and shelf stable milk, and they weigh about 28 pounds each! The two basic volunteer roles are logistics and delivery. Logistics volunteers help on site shifting boxes, checking in, packing produce, loading vehicles, and cleaning up. Volunteers deliver the groceries to folks at multi-family buildings in Somerville and Cambridge. Teams of two volunteers are welcome so that your car may have a "driver" and a "runner." Each driver will need a personal vehicle, and a cell phone number so that we can reach you en route if needed. (Monthly)
