The Mural Arts Porch Light department is looking for volunteers to assist with its after-school Homework Help program at our Southeast Storefront.
The Porch Light Storefronts are reliable, welcoming physical spaces where neighbors gather, create, and connect—both within their own cultures and across cultures—in accordance with the Porch Light’s commitment to mental health. They provide community access, creative programming, and new connections. The Storefront system consists of two primary hubs:
- Southeast by Southeast - room 413 of the Bok Building (821 Dudley St)
- Northeast Passage - at the Northeast Services Hub (6434 Castor Ave)
Homework Help is led by Naw Doh, head of the Karen Community Association of Philadelphia. Students are in elementary school, and attend the program for help with reading, writing, math, and science. Volunteer shift will be 3:30-5:30pm.
Volunteers must submit a background check and references.
