Volunteer Coordinator for Service Dog Organization

    The Mission

At NICST, we believe in the transformative power of the canine-human bond. We specialize in training service dogs to assist individuals with disabilities, ensuring they lead more independent and empowered lives. Our volunteers are the backbone of this mission, and we need a dedicated leader to ensure their experience is rewarding, organized, and impactful.

    The Role

The Volunteer Coordinator is the primary point of contact for our community of supporters. You will be the "culture builder," welcoming new faces into the NICST family and ensuring our veteran volunteers feel seen and appreciated. This is a vital role for someone who loves networking, organizing, and fostering a sense of community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Onboarding & Orientations: Lead informational sessions for prospective volunteers, sharing the NICST mission and explaining the various ways they can help (from puppy raising to event support).
    • Initial Guidance: Act as a mentor for new recruits during their first few weeks, ensuring they understand our protocols and feel comfortable in their assigned roles.
    • Recognition Programs: Develop and manage recognition programs, anniversary shout-outs, birthday shout-outs and annual appreciation events to celebrate our team's hard work.
    • Community Engagement: Organize social activities, workshops, or "meet-and-greets" to strengthen the bond between volunteers and the organization.
    • Administrative Support: Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteer contact info, hours, and interests.

    Who You Are

    • A People Person: You genuinely enjoy meeting new people and have a knack for making them feel welcome.
    • Highly Organized: You can juggle schedules and communication channels without breaking a sweat.
    • A Clear Communicator: Whether speaking to a group or writing an email, you are professional, warm, and concise.
    • Passionate about Service Dogs: You understand the importance of our work and can advocate for our mission with enthusiasm.

    Why Join Us?

    • Make a direct impact on the lives of service dog recipients.
    • Build your resume with leadership and management experience in the nonprofit sector.
    • Work with a passionate, like-minded team (and occasionally some very good dogs).
