The Sports Museum of Dutchess County provides a variety of opportunities for volunteers of all ages! Our permanent exhibition, "Legends of Dutchess" presents the history of Dutchess County sports along with biographies of the men and women from our area who have excelled in sports. We feature historic artifacts ranging from an original 1920's Hudson River ice boat to a more recent tribute to FIFA World Cup star Tyler Adams. Our new Ralph Holt Learning Center includes online research databases, Oculus sports games, access to oral history videos of local sports heroes, and a children's sports library.
The museum welcomes volunteers ranging from teens to retirees. Volunteer experiences are varied, and can include presenting tours, working in the gift shop, cataloging artifacts, clerical support, and representing the museum at local community events. No prior experience is required; we will provide a volunteer orientation and will help match individuals based upon their desired level of service. The museum also offers internship opportunities for college students interested in the fields of sports communications, public relations, and/or local history.
If you are looking for a community-based volunteer experience, or if you just love to talk about sports, this may be the opportunity for you!
