welcoming local and international volunteers to support vulnerable and underprivileged children at our daycare and preschool center in Tanzania. Since 2019, our organization has been dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and educational environment for children from low-income families.
Currently, we support more than 80 children between the ages of 1 to 5 years through early childhood education, daily care, nutrition support, and community programs.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers may assist with:
- Teaching basic English, drawing, songs, games, and creative activities
- Supporting daycare and preschool activities
- Helping children with learning and social development
- Organizing sports and outdoor activities
- Assisting with community outreach programs
- Supporting staff with daily childcare activities
- Sharing special skills such as art, music, photography, computer skills, or health education
Qualifications
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. No professional experience is required, but the following qualities are appreciated:
- Love and passion for working with children
- Positive attitude and teamwork
- Respect for different cultures
- Creativity, flexibility, and willingness to learn
- Basic English communication skills

The Gilys Children Foundation Daycare & Preschool is located in Arusha, Tanzania, Ambureni Ward, Shangarai Street. From Arusha city center, you can take a taxi or boda-boda heading towards Shangarai area in Ambureni Ward. Please contact us before arrival for exact guidance and assistance. Airport pickup and local directions can also be arranged for international volunteers.

Interested volunteers are requested to send a short introduction about themselves, including their motivation for joining, relevant skills or experience, and preferred volunteering dates.
If available, please also attach a CV or resume and a recent photo.
All applications should be sent via email before arrival. After review, selected volunteers will receive confirmation and further details, including accommodation, airport pickup, and orientation information.
For international volunteers, please ensure you contact us at least 2–4 weeks in advance to allow proper preparation and placement arrangements.
