Job Summary
Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer organization and the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The 388th Composite Squadron, part of the Arizona Wing, is committed to cadet leadership training, aerospace education, emergency services, and community engagement. The Finance Officer manages squadron finances with integrity and transparency, ensuring compliance with CAP regulations and supporting the unit’s operational readiness.
Primary Duties
- Manage squadron finances in accordance with CAPR 173-1.
- Prepare and submit monthly bank reconciliations and financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting and fundraising efforts.
- Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
- Serve as a member of the Finance Committee.
- Create various reports for the Squadron Commander as needed.
- Create and store various documents in the Squadron’s Google drive.
- Follow the applicable CAP, AZ Wing, and Squadron procedures.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to this position.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with budgeting, accounting, or bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with CAP financial systems and procedures.
- Integrity and transparency in financial stewardship.
Work Environment
- Duties may be performed remotely or at the Squadron facility at Glendale Airport, AZ
- May be exposed to the natural environment with high and low temperatures
- May involve long periods of standing or sitting
- May be required to wear the CAP uniforms for Senior Members (see CAPR 39-1)
- May involve travel by auto or plane within Arizona to attend events.
