Want to get outside while also helping to grow fresh, nutritious produce? Come join us at Owenwood Farm on the 2nd Saturday of every month to get your hands in the dirt. In cooler months, we start at 9am and in warmer months at 8am. No experience needed, but a love of good food, attention to detail (like, weeds and young plant shoots can look alike), and a desire to grow good food in Dallas are the requirements.
Closed-toed shoes needed. Please wear clothes you can get dirty and that are appropriate for the weather that day. Feel free to bring your own gloves, though we do have some onsite. Bring a water bottle. We will provide a refill for it.
To register go to https://grownorthtexas.org/events and scroll to find Farm Hands Volunteer Day.
Groups who would like a specific volunteer day can contact us to schedule.
Owenwood Farm is located in Far East Dallas at part of the Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space collaborative. Currently the farm has about 1 acre in production. Fruits and vegetables grown here are sold in various ways including GNTX's WIC Farm Stand program, at local farmers markets, and at our weekly onsite farm stand every Friday from 9a-12p.
