Do you love meeting new people and sharing local stories? The Troutdale Historical Society is looking for friendly, reliable Docents to host the Welcome Table at our Barn Exhibit Hall Museum.
As a Welcome Table Docent, you are the first face our visitors see. You will greet guests, help them get oriented in our self-guided museum, and share a little Troutdale history when questions come up. We provide training, so no prior museum experience is required. Additional duties include answering phone calls, working the register, and sharing information about upcoming programs, events, and exhibits.
Shifts are available Friday through Sunday from Noon to 3:00 PM. We are currently seeking coverage on all three days, but you can volunteer as little as one shift per month. We are flexible and happy to adjust shift dates to fit your schedule.
Volunteer Benefits
After 30 hours of service, volunteers receive a free one-year Family Membership to the Troutdale Historical Society, 10% off purchases in our museum gift shop, and 10% off a membership with the Oregon Historical Society. Volunteers also receive first opportunity to reserve seating on our THS Travels tours throughout the year. In addition, volunteers may assist at the McMenamins Edgefield Summer Lawn Concerts by hosting our booth before the show—once the concert starts, you pack up and enjoy the concert for free.
Most importantly, you gain the satisfaction of supporting a local nonprofit, serving your community, and helping keep Troutdale’s history alive and thriving.
Send resume or details to troutdalehistory@gmail.com and insert "Docent" into the subject. We are in need of welcome table host on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon - 3:00pm. You may choose as little as one shift per month!
