    Descripción

The Orang Utan Republik Foundation is seeking a skilled and reliable Website Lead Volunteer to help improve and maintain our official website, orangutanrepublik.org, which serves as OURF’s primary public-facing entry point for supporters, donors, partners, volunteers, students, journalists, and the general public.

OURF’s mission is to save wild orangutans through education, conservation partnerships, scholarships, public engagement, and support for Indonesian conservation leadership. Our website plays a central role in telling that story clearly, inspiring trust, and helping visitors take meaningful action.

The Website Lead Volunteer will help coordinate improvements to the website’s structure, landing pages, donation pathways, program pages, event pages, volunteer information, and search visibility. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to use digital, communications, UX, content, or nonprofit web skills to support orangutan conservation and rainforest protection.

This is a volunteer leadership role, not a technical staff position. The ideal person will be comfortable helping organize website priorities, coordinating with other volunteers or interns, and translating website improvement ideas into practical tasks.

    Key Responsibilities

The Website Lead Volunteer may help with:

    • Reviewing key website pages for clarity, usability, accuracy, and donor readiness.
    • Helping improve homepage structure, navigation, calls-to-action, and donation pathways.
    • Coordinating updates to program pages, including scholarships, conservation education, ecotours, volunteer opportunities, and special campaigns.
    • Helping ensure donation buttons and giving pages are easy to find, clear, and consistent.
    • Supporting development of landing pages for campaigns, events, and donor appeals.
    • Maintaining a simple website improvement task list for volunteers or interns.
    • Checking for broken links, outdated information, duplicate content, and confusing user pathways.
    • Recommending improvements for mobile readability, accessibility, SEO, and user experience.
    • Helping organize content updates in collaboration with OURF leadership.
    • Supporting periodic website reports or summaries for internal review.

    Current Website Priorities

The first priorities for this role will include:

    • Improving the donor journey from homepage to donation form.
    • Strengthening landing pages for major programs and campaigns.
    • Making donation buttons clearer and more consistent.
    • Helping organize website tasks for volunteers.
    • Improving trust signals, such as transparency, annual reports, nonprofit ratings, and program impact.
    • Supporting a draft-status approach for future conference pages until content is formally approved.

    Desired Skills

Helpful skills include one or more of the following:

    • WordPress or nonprofit website management.
    • Website content editing.
    • User experience / UX review.
    • Donation page or fundraising page optimization.
    • SEO basics.
    • Accessibility and mobile usability awareness.
    • Google Analytics or Search Console familiarity.
    • Project coordination.
    • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
    • Interest in wildlife conservation, education, Indonesia, orangutans, or rainforest protection.
    • Candidates do not need to be experts in every area. We welcome a capable generalist who is organized, thoughtful, dependable, and willing to help move the website forward step by step.

    Qualifications

    A strong candidate will be:

    • Reliable and able to follow through on agreed tasks.
    • Comfortable working remotely.
    • Clear and professional in communication.
    • Able to work respectfully with a small nonprofit team.
    • Detail-oriented, especially with links, buttons, page copy, and layout consistency.
    • Comfortable receiving feedback and revising work.
    • Mission-aligned with OURF’s work to support orangutan conservation through education and local leadership.

    What You’ll Gain

This volunteer role offers the opportunity to:

    • Make a direct contribution to orangutan conservation and rainforest protection.
    • Build or strengthen a portfolio in nonprofit website management, communications, UX, or digital fundraising.
    • Work with an established conservation nonprofit with international partnerships.
    • Help improve how donors, volunteers, and supporters engage with OURF’s mission.
    • Support education-based conservation programs that benefit Indonesian students, communities, and wild orangutans.
