Help Brighten the Day of an Isolated Senior

Looking for a rewarding and meaningful Volunteer Opportunity?

J-sei, a non-profit social service agency, is looking for volunteers (English or Japanese-speaking) who can call or visit homebound and isolated seniors. We have clients throughout Contra Costa and Alameda counties that are waiting to be matched with a volunteer.

• Friendly Visitors visit a senior’s home once a week to develop and maintain a friendly relationship. The schedule for this position is flexible and can be arranged on an individual basis. J-Sei will provide annual trainings for this volunteer position.
• Friendly Callers call a homebound senior a couple of times a week to check-in on the senior’s safety and well-being. The schedule for this position is flexible and can be arranged on an individual basis. J-Sei will provide annual trainings for this volunteer position.

High-need areas currently:

Hayward/Fremont Area- Japanese-speaking visitors

Walnut Creek- both Japanese and English-speaking visitors

• Volunteers who can drive and visit a client are preferred as many of our clients have difficulties talking over the phone.
