Volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver - Deliver warm meals to your neighbors!

Our Meals on Wheels program delivers nutritious meals and fosters social connection for adults aged 60 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities, in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore. As part of the national Meals on Wheels network, we address hunger and isolation while promoting independence and overall well-being.

Location: Volunteers pick up prepared meals at the Lowell Senior Center and deliver meals directly to people's homes in the area.

Commitment: Volunteers can deliver from one day up to five days per week (Monday through Friday) with pickups usually being around 9AM and deliveries lasting for three to four hours. No deliveries on holidays, weekends or extreme storms.

Compensation: Volunteers can opt to receive a mileage reimbursement and/or stipend.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older.
• Must complete a CORI background check.
• Must have personal reliable transportation, current driver’s license and must have auto mobile insurance with a minimum liability coverage of $20,000/$40,000.
• May require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, getting in and out of a vehicle up to 30 times per day, bending, reaching, twisting, walking, and climbing multiple flights of stairs at residences that do not have elevators.
• Requires driving in four season weather conditions.
