    Grant Writing Intern

About Us: Educate. Radiate. Elevate. (E.R.E.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, high-quality education to underserved youth. Founded in the midst of the pandemic, our mission is to address and combat the longstanding inequalities exacerbated by the crisis. Low-income students of color have been disproportionately affected, resulting in significant economic costs for communities. Using proven methods from our founder's two decades of tutoring experience, we aim to close this gap and foster educational equity. As we enter our 4th year, we are positioned to obtain essential grants to continue our impactful work.

Description: We are seeking dedicated volunteer Grant Writers to join our team and help secure vital funding. This role is perfect for those with a passion for long-form writing, informational research, and storytelling. As a Grant Writer, you will contribute to expanding our outreach and supporting our mission by crafting compelling grant applications and Letters of Intent/Interest (LOIs).

    Requirements:

    • Experience: Proven experience with long-form writing.
    • Skills: Strong abilities in informational research and storytelling.
    • Commitment: Dedicate at least 5 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
    • Availability: Participate in team meetings every 2nd Wednesday from 5-6pm Central Time.

    Duties:

    • Grant Applications and LOIs: Complete the following in each 4-week period:
      • 1 grant application and 4 Letters of Intent (LOIs), or
      • 2 grant applications and 2 LOIs, or
      • 3 grant applications
    • ~75% Autonomous work with ~25% Guidance of Peer Reviewers and Grant Reviewers.

    Perks:

    • Autonomy: Set your own schedule to complete your monthly requirements.
    • Team Collaboration: Work alongside a passionate and dedicated team of changemakers.
    • Mentorship: Receive guidance from the Program Director, Outreach Director, and professional Grant Reviewers.

    Benefits:

    1. Direct Impact: Your grant writing efforts help secure funds for free education initiatives, making a tangible difference in the lives of underserved individuals.
    2. Skill Development: Gain practical experience in researching, writing, and editing grant proposals, enhancing skills in communication, persuasion, and project management.
    3. Resume Enhancement: Build a strong portfolio of grant writing experience, showcasing your commitment to social causes and improving your attractiveness to future employers in the nonprofit sector.
    4. Networking Opportunities: Connect with professionals in the nonprofit and education sectors, including potential donors, educators, and community leaders, expanding your professional network.
    5. Learning Environment: Gain insights into nonprofit operations, educational outreach strategies, and the challenges faced by underserved communities.
    6. Mentorship and Guidance: Benefit from the expertise and advice of experienced grant writers and nonprofit leaders to refine your grant writing skills.
    7. Community Impact: Help the nonprofit secure resources needed to provide quality education, contributing to breaking the cycle of inequality.
    8. Flexibility: Volunteer based on your schedule and availability, balancing your commitments while making a meaningful contribution.
    9. Personal Growth: Experience personal fulfillment from knowing your skills support an organization dedicated to educational equity and social justice.
    10. Recognition and Appreciation: Receive acknowledgment and appreciation from the nonprofit and the community for your valuable contributions to providing free education.

Additional Information: We have identified over 100 potential grants to apply for and possess approximately 25 pages of responses to common grant questions that can be adapted for various applications. Our financial reports and budget spreadsheets have been refined by an accountant, and a professional Grant Reviewer is on staff to provide feedback. We are now seeking individuals interested in grant writing to help complete our applications. Join us in our mission to make a significant impact!

If you are passionate about grant writing and eager to contribute to a meaningful cause, we would love to have you on board. Apply now to join our team and support our efforts to provide quality education to those in need.
