This position ensures that JAARS Base Services has the right volunteers, in the right roles, at the right time—well-prepared, supported, and meaningfully engaged—so that JAARS can effectively reach the last mile of missions.
Position Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Pipeline (in coordination with Recruitment Dept.)
This will be successfully performed when:
- A consistent pool of mission-aligned, qualified volunteers is maintained.
- Volunteer roles are prioritized, clearly defined, and actively promoted.
- Recruitment strategies are regularly evaluated and improved.
Relative Importance: 10%
Onboarding & Volunteer Readiness (in coordination with HR Dept.)
This will be successfully performed when:
- Volunteers are screened, placed, and equipped to serve effectively.
- All screening, background checks, and documentation are completed as required.
- Volunteers receive a clear orientation to JAARS’ mission, values, and policies.
- Role expectations and training materials are clear and accessible.
- Volunteers begin service confident in their responsibilities and impact.

Operational Coordination
This will be successfully performed when:
- Volunteer systems and scheduling operate smoothly and reliably.
- Volunteer database and records remain current and accurate.
- Hours, assignments, and availability are tracked consistently.
- Departmental needs are anticipated and met in a timely manner.
- Volunteer placements reflect organizational goals.
- Policies, standards, and safety protocols are upheld.
- Cross-department communication supports effective utilization.

Engagement & Retention
This will be successfully performed when:
- Volunteers feel valued, supported, and connected to the mission.
- Volunteers report positive experiences and meaningful engagement.
- Feedback is gathered and used to strengthen the volunteer experience.
- Retention meets or exceeds organizational goals.
