Volunteer Law Enforcement Case Review Advisor | Remote
Descripción
Descripción
The Justice for James Irby Sr. Foundation is seeking a current or retired law enforcement professional with investigative experience to help strengthen our review of unsolved violent crime cases.
The foundation was established in honor of James Anthony Irby Sr., whose 2013 homicide remains unsolved. His case is our foundational case. We are building a disciplined review process that can also support other families seeking answers.
What you’ll do
- Review authorized police reports, timelines, public records, and other case materials.
- Identify investigative gaps, conflicting accounts, and questions that warrant further examination.
- Assess whether documented leads and evidence received appropriate follow-up.
- Recommend how to organize findings for productive communication with the agency responsible for a case.
- Help develop case-review standards for future family applications.
Who we’re looking for
A current or retired detective, homicide investigator, cold case investigator, or law enforcement supervisor with substantial investigative experience. We value sound judgment, careful documentation, discretion, and the ability to explain investigative findings clearly.
Applicants should describe their investigative background, relevant training, and any professional restrictions or potential conflicts of interest. Current officers must be able to serve consistently with their department’s policies.
