Befriend Families & Kiddos Lacking Healthy Relationships

Join our Family Friend Volunteer Program and make a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and families across McHenry County and Lake County. Family Friend volunteers provide encouragement, practical support, and positive connection to families who may be experiencing stress, isolation, financial hardship, or other life challenges.

Volunteers are matched with a family to offer consistent friendship and support through activities such as:

• Spending quality time with children and parents
• Assisting with mentorship and positive social interaction
• Helping families connect to local resources and community services
• Providing encouragement during difficult transitions or stressful periods
• Participating in family-friendly outings, educational activities, or community events
• Offering dependable companionship and emotional support

We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and nonjudgmental individuals who are passionate about strengthening families and building healthier communities. Volunteers should have strong communication skills, respect for diverse backgrounds and experiences, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.

This role is flexible and can accommodate a variety of schedules. Training and ongoing support will be provided. Whether you can give a few hours each month or more consistent involvement, your presence can have a lasting impact on a family in our community.
