About the Role
Manna Project International is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our public health and community development initiatives in partnership with the indigenous Kichwa community in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Volunteers contribute directly to grassroots programs that improve health outcomes, strengthen community resilience, and promote sustainable development, while experiencing life in a vibrant intercultural setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Kichwa community to support public health, community health, and nutrition initiatives.
- Assist with health education workshops, outreach campaigns, and community events.
- Support the local public health clinic with house calls, administrative tasks, outreach, and community-based programs.
- Help design and adapt health promotion materials for community use.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of ongoing health programs.
- Work alongside local health professionals, community leaders, and fellow volunteers to strengthen long-term impact.
Qualifications
- Passion for service and interest in public health or community development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to adapt to a new cultural environment and collaborate with diverse groups.
- Patience and flexibility for the dynamic pace of community life.
- Self-motivation and initiative.
- Basic Spanish proficiency is helpful but not required.

Manna Project International (MPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers young people to serve through community-based initiatives. Operating in Ecuador, MPI partners with local leaders to address education, health, and livelihood needs in underserved communities.
Logistics & Cost
All volunteers live together in the Manna House for safety, support, and community building (some exceptions may apply).
- Program Cost: $2,310 for 5 weeks, or $1,300/month for stays of 3+ months.
- Included: On-ground transport, food, housing, WiFi, cultural and tourism events, professional development curriculum with certificate, and 24/7 emergency support.
- Support: Fundraising training and guidance available, plus scholarships for volunteers with demonstrated need.
