Digital Media Producer (Lead) is responsible for overseeing the production quality, creative execution, and workflow of Digital STEAM Academy video content. This role works closely with the Executive Director to translate TechArts’ mission into engaging, accessible, and youth-centered digital media.
This is a hands-on production role with mentorship responsibilities, not a channel ownership or editorial control position.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Creative Execution
- Lead or support video shoots (camera, lighting, audio, setup)
- Oversee post-production workflows (editing, sound, captions, delivery)
- Ensure all content aligns with TechArts brand, tone, and accessibility standards
- Recommend creative approaches, formats, and improvements (final approval remains with Executive Director)
Workflow & Systems
- Help establish repeatable, youth-friendly production workflows
- Document production standards and templates for student and volunteer teams
- Support efficient production of short-form educational content
Mentorship & Team Development
- Train and mentor student and volunteer videographers and editors
- Create a supportive learning environment focused on skill-building
- Gradually transition appropriate production tasks to students as skills develop
Collaboration & Planning
- Collaborate on content calendars tied to cultural moments and learning goals
- Work with subject-matter experts to balance creativity with technical accuracy
- Participate in regular check-ins to review progress and goals
Deliverables & Expectations
- Support production of approximately 2 short videos (3–5 minutes) per month
- Assist with launch content and seasonal production pushes
- Participate in monthly planning and review meetings
- Support volunteer onboarding and training
Qualifications
- Experience in video production, media, or digital storytelling
- Comfort working in collaborative, nonprofit, or youth-focused environments
- Ability to mentor beginners with patience and clarity
- Alignment with TechArts’ mission around equity, access, and representation
Nice to Have
- Experience with YouTube or educational media
- Background in STEAM, youth development, or community storytelling
- Familiarity with analytics or audience engagement (not required)
