    Descripción

    Tech Turn Up is seeking three new Directors for its Board for a two-year term that begins January 1, 2026

    Since 2018, Tech Turn Up has been offering free and low-cost STEAM programs to under-resourced youth across the Washington, DC area. We provide a variety of year-round programming that offers engaging opportunities for students to explore the intersection of technology, art, and cultural diversity.

    Tech Turn Up is committed to empowering students by expanding their knowledge and fostering personal growth through innovative educational experiences. We aim to equip students with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive in the modern world.

    BOARD ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the mission and purpose of the organization
    • Strategic and organizational planning
    • Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
    • Fundraise and support financial development
    • Approve and monitor Tech Turn Up’s policies and programs
    • Enhance Tech Turn Up’s public image
    • Select and evaluate the performance of the Executive Director
    • Periodically assess performance of the Board as the governing body of Tech Turn Up

    COMMITTMENTS

    • Term: Serve a two (2) year term with option to opt-in for a second consecutive term
    • Meetings: Attend and actively participate in all six (6) scheduled board meetings per year
    • Committee Participation: Participate in committee meetings, using fair and independent judgment in conducting the business of Tech Turn Up. Take responsibility for making decisions on issues, policies, and other Board matters. Work in good faith with other Board members as partners towards achievement of goals.
    • Financial and Fundraising Contributions: Give/get a minimum contribution of $1,000. This may include personal donations and funds raised from individual solicitation, online campaigns, raising money through special events, written appeals (mail/e-mail), etc.
    • Conflicts of Interest: Act with the care and loyalty required of board members and put the organization's interests first.
    • Policies and Programs Oversight: Responsible for knowing all current policies and programs, for approving the expansion of scope for existing policies and programs, and for overseeing the implementation of new policies and programs.
    • Executive Director Selection & Evaluation: Participate in the periodic evaluation of the executive director, including review of the executive director’s performance, setting compensation when applicable, and ensuring an orderly succession of the executive director when necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Desire to learn about Board leadership and nonprofit governance
    • Able to assist with fundraising efforts
    • Committed to give or raise $1,000 each year
    • Previous nonprofit and Board service experience a plus
