Job Overview: The Career Services Coordinator is a focused volunteer role dedicated to delivering high-impact career transition support. By specializing in either group workshops or limited one-on-one sessions, you will equip veterans and military spouses with the essential tools to translate their skills into civilian project management careers.
Key Responsibilities (3–5 Hours/Week)
- Targeted Career Coaching (2 hours): Conduct two 1-hour coaching sessions per week, focusing specifically on military-to-civilian skill translation and resume review using the STAR method.
- Virtual Facilitation (1 hour): Facilitate or co-host one virtual workshop per month (rotating with other coordinators) on topics such as LinkedIn optimization or interview preparation.
- Client Connection (30 mins – 1 hour): Provide follow-up resources and brief email support to assigned clients to ensure they are successfully navigating VPMMA tools.
- Collaboration & Tracking (30 mins): Log session outcomes in Flowlu and attend a brief monthly sync with the Deputy Director of Career Services to discuss program impact.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in career coaching, HR, or project management.
- Strong understanding of military skill translation and the civilian job market.
- Comfortable using virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Teams) and Google Workspace.
- Empathy and a strong desire to support the veteran community.
