Looking to Grow Our Announcer Crew!

Step Into the Spotlight: Become a Roller Derby Announcer with the Rose City Rollers!

The Rose City Rollers are seeking enthusiastic, energetic voices to join our Announcing Team for the 50+ roller derby games we host each year! Whether you’re an experienced public speaker or brand new to the mic, we have a place for you.

We staff two to six announcers per game (half in-house, half on the live stream), each playing a key role:

    🎤 MC (Master of Ceremonies)

Our primary game-caller—responsible for delivering clear, accurate play-by-play commentary. This role requires a solid understanding of roller derby, RCR culture, the rules, and our skaters. You’ll keep the audience informed, engaged, and excited throughout the action.

    🎤 2nd Chair Announcer

The MC’s co-pilot! You’ll help drive the conversation, jump in with color commentary, keep the energy high, and fill in the gaps with quick wit and smooth banter. If you think fast on your feet and love improvisation, this role is for you.

    🎤 3rd Chair Announcer

Our sponsor spotlight and hype specialist! You’ll handle sponsor shout-outs and ad reads both in-house and on the livestream. No prior derby knowledge needed—just a strong, positive speaking voice and great communication skills.

    We’re looking for volunteers with:

    • Strong communication skills and an engaging speaking style
    • Enthusiasm and energy - your voice sets the tone for the whole venue
    • Willingness to learn about roller derby (full support and training provided!)
    • Quick thinking and improvisation skills to match derby’s fast pace
    • Collaboration skills - you’ll work closely as a team
    • Respectful use of participant pronouns
    • Flexibility for varying game and tournament schedules
    • Clear, enthusiastic ad-read delivery

No experience? No problem! We offer training, mentorship, and hands-on practice to help you grow into the role - whether you’re aiming for 3rd Chair or dreaming of being an MC.

If you’re ready to join the action, make some noise, and help create unforgettable derby experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
