Job Summary:
The Outreach and Grant Associate will focus on strengthening external partnerships, advancing community engagement efforts, and supporting grant research, writing, and submission processes. This position supports the outreach team in maintaining grant opportunities and ensuring communication with donators. You’ll help transform grant research into meaningful insights that guide more intelligent decision-making and support our mission in empowering small businesses and community-focused decision-making through transparent research. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging management professional to gain real-world experience in outreach, grant opportunities, communications and client collaboration while developing both technical and collaborative skills in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
What You’ll Do:
Grant Writing & Development
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and submitting grant proposals.
- Help track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with leadership to align funding strategies with program needs.
Outreach & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Support planning and execution of community events, meetings, and initiatives.
- Assist in developing outreach strategies to expand HCMG’s presence and impact.
- Represent HCMG at community events and networking opportunities.
Community Planning & Strategy
- Contribute to the development of community programs and initiatives.
- Assist in needs assessments and data collection to inform planning.
- Support project coordination and implementation efforts.
Qualifications:
- Recent undergraduate student or graduate.
- Bachelor’s or master's in Management and Communications and/or related field.
- Certifications in Management or Communication (preferred).
- Excellent written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
- Fully remote — no travel required. Preference for candidates located in New Jersey.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
- Background in community planning, public administration, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

- Canva
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to draft, format, and edit professional documents, including grant proposals and reports.
- Competency in spreadsheet management for tracking grants, deadlines, and outreach activities.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
