Veteran Women of Influence (VWOI) is a startup nonprofit being built from the ground up — including the home, the board, the programming, and our public presence.
Board members serving in this capacity bring a unique balance of analytical precision and values-driven insight, guiding the organization through sound legal frameworks, financial stewardship, and strategic market positioning. This role is responsible for ensuring that decisions are both structurally sound and aligned with the organization’s mission, long-term sustainability, and public presence.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and guidance on legal compliance, governance standards, and risk management
- Review and advise on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal accountability
- Support development and evaluation of marketing strategies, brand positioning, and audience engagement
- Ensure alignment between organizational values and external communications
- Contribute to high-level decision-making with clear, data-informed, and ethically grounded perspectives
- Collaborate with executive leadership to strengthen operational integrity and strategic growth
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas: law, finance, or marketing/brand strategy
- Experience serving on boards or in executive leadership roles preferred
- Strong ability to interpret complex information and translate it into clear, actionable guidance
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to organizational mission
- Capacity to balance detail-oriented analysis with big-picture, values-driven thinking
